Campaign Announcement: Laurie Parman for Illinois State Representative, District 66

Dear Residents of District 66,

I am thrilled to announce my second campaign for Illinois State Representative in District 66, as we head toward a critical election on November 3, 2026. As a retired teacher, Doctor of Educational Leadership, and proud resident of Sleepy Hollow, IL, I am running to bring accountability, protect parental rights, and deliver real solutions for our communities in McHenry and Kane counties.

Why I’m Running
In 2022, I earned 46.7% of the vote (24,292 votes) against incumbent Suzanne Ness’s 53.3% (27,757 votes), showing that District 66 is ready for change. With the support of McGOPAC and growing grassroots momentum, I am committed to fighting for our shared values and addressing the issues that matter most to you.

Education is at the heart of my campaign. Illinois’ public schools are struggling, yet Democrats in Springfield, including my opponent, have backed policies like HB2827 that threaten homeschooling families with Class 3 felony penalties for late paperwork while doing nothing to fix our broken education system. I’ve already taken action, contacting nearly a third of Democrat legislators to call out this misguided approach. Our families deserve better. We need leaders who prioritize improving schools, defending parental rights, and ensuring every child has access to a quality education.

My Commitment to You
As your State Representative, I will:
-
Champion Education Reform: Advocate for policies that empower parents, support teachers, and improve student outcomes without punitive measures like HB2827.
-
Protect Parental Rights: Defend families’ freedom to choose the best educational path for their children, whether public, private, or homeschool.
-
-
Restore Accountability in Springfield: Fight for transparency and policies that put taxpayers first.
-
Support Local Communities: Address the unique needs of Algonquin, Carpentersville, Crystal Lake, East Dundee, Elgin, Gilberts, Lake in the Hills, Lakewood, Sleepy Hollow, and West Dundee.
My Background
With over 30 years as an educator in District 300, I’ve seen firsthand the challenges facing our schools. My experience as a teacher, combined with my Doctorate in Educational Leadership, equips me to tackle these issues with practical, results-driven solutions. I’ve walked every corner of District 66, listening to your concerns and learning what each community needs from its state government. Public service is my calling, and I’m ready to serve you in Springfield.

A Vision for District 66
I envision a District 66 where families are empowered, and children are safe, schools are thriving, and Springfield works for the people not against them. This election is about: Bringing Illinois back from the brink of destruction. restoring trust, defending freedom, and building a thriving future for generations to come.
